Being a good teacher is of course about delivering great lessons that pupils can relate to and that will get them good results, leading them into productive careers. As a teacher though, your own career is important too and one of the key ways to progress is to form the right relationships in the school environment. This means being open to people who can mentor you, encourage you and help you get where you want to be, through leadership or through moral support.
Working on relationships might sound like something from sales and business but it is very important in all walks of life and in every career path. When you make the right connections in your work as a teacher you will begin to find new opportunities opening up for you. Be sure to nurture these relationships and find a good balance between work, self development and career progression.
