Why Go Into Teaching?

Teaching can be a wonderful career, rewarding and interesting and generally quite well paid compared to other jobs. However, you have to be the right kind of person to be a teacher and you have to find the motivation to work hard, to be committed and to teach the best lesson possible. This isn’t something that just anyone can do and you will have to find the commitment and dedication from within. You must go into teaching for the right reasons. Whilst the salary is better than average, it still isn’t all that high. You should want to do it because you are committed to the cause and want to improve the lives and prospects of young people. If you enjoy helping others reach their potential, you are patient and you enjoy working hard, then teaching could be the career for you. Talk to a careers adviser and find out more about the world of teaching if you are interested.

How to Find Out if there are Supply Teaching Jobs in your Area

Supply teaching is a field that will vary in demand from area to area. It will all depend on the staffing of schools, how many schools there are, and whether those schools have met their teaching needs on a permanent basis. However, as a teacher, this is hard for you to know. The best port of call for you will be a specialist recruitment agency for teaching staff. They will be able to point you in the right direction for jobs in your area, and will be able to tell you what demand is generally like. They will usually have links with certain schools, so if there are schools you would particularly want to work in, find recruitment agencies that operate in their areas. This will set you in good stead for your career as a supply teacher, and you will have access to many good opportunities in this way.

Learning Games for Basic and Advanced Skill and Knowledge Development

Educational games have proven, time and again, to be a highly effective method of enriching the learning experience, and it doesn’t really matter what age you are as well, as these methods can be very effective for children, adolescents and adults. Of course it can become more difficult to find a way in which to teach through a game a subject or skill which is more complicated than the most basic of skills and facts, but when it is accomplished it can be effective. The purpose of educational games is to provide a fun and more engaging experience, and therefore a more enriching experience for students than other methods of educating. This also means that games can be used to make the time spent learning more efficient as well. There are different types of games as well, such as ones which require a teacher and those which only need to a computer to run on, which means that you can potentially save money by reducing the requirements for a teacher. The effectiveness of these types of games can vary from person to person and game to game, but they can be highly beneficial as an option for supplementing a more […]

Are Computer Games Bad for Children?

There is a lot of concern in the media and in the general population that games, and computer games in particular, may be bad for the mental development of children. This leads a lot of parents to ban consoles from their homes and forbid their children to play them around their friend’s houses, but this may be slightly misplaced, as studies are fairly mixed on how harmful it is. In fact, studies are pretty much evenly divided on the matter, although both sides of the argument certainly agree that there are games that kids should not be playing. This is something which is being addressed by age recommendations on games, but they still aren’t observed reliably. If you want to make sure that your children are not being harmed by the games they’re playing, the minimum you should do is observe the age requirements on games. Getting games which try to enhance their learning, or which challenge their brains, is another way to let them experience games without risk.

The Advantages of Educational Games

When you’re trying to teach a child, the most important task, and also what is often the most difficult, is keeping the child engaged in the subject matter. It revolves around developing enthusiasm for what they’re learning, which requires some open-mindedness on the part of the teacher. Often times what is going to have the biggest impact on a child’s enthusiasm for learning is not what they’re learning but how they’re learning it. This is why educational games are so valuable to parents and teachers, particularly when the children are young. Educational games can be bought or developed by yourself without the aid of technology. To do it, all you need to do is involve the child in an activity where they’re required to learn information or skills and are then challenged on it. This doesn’t necessitate your involvement either, as you can buy games which are engaging and good for the child to do when they’re alone.
